Ships operating in the harbour must sort their wastes and leave them in collection bins assigned for each specific waste type.
Normal kitchen waste should be placed into the container on the quay marked ”EU kitchen waste”. Metal waste should be placed into the container marked ”metal garbage” and glass waste into the container marked ”glass garbage”. Problem waste (i.e. batteries, waste oil, waste containing oil, paints etc.): contact the ship’s agent. Other waste should be placed into the container marked ”landfill garbage”.
International food waste
Vessels arriving from countries outside the EU
All kitchen waste must be completely separated from other wastes. A vessel must report its intention to leave waste in the harbour. Based on the report, the harbor will order waste transportation from the waste management company. For waste collection, the vessel receives specially marked yellow waste bags, which must be taken to the yellow collection bins in the harbour marked ”non EU kitchen waste” (kl. 1 ainoastaan hävitettäväksi).
A vessel must notify the port its intention to leave sewage water in the harbour. Based on this notice the harbour will order a tanker.
